The pandemic has changed the way workspaces function. As the world begins to slowly reopen, businesses are starting to embrace hybrid work. According to a HP Teradici survey on security, 99% of the 8000+ global respondents said their companies would have a hybrid workforce, even in a post-pandemic world.
But there’s one aspect of this move towards hybrid work that keeps IT teams awake at night — cybersecurity. Employees are largely working outside the office, on the cloud, or using their personal devices to access their workspace. How can businesses reap the benefits of hybrid work when there’s a constant worry around keeping data safe?
The answer lies in Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). According to the security report, there has been a general sense of dissatisfaction with traditional VPNs during the pandemic. Though many businesses had relied on VPNs in the past, and particularly during the pandemic, the survey found that most respondents were far from satisfied with the performance of VPNs, with most complaining about slowness as well as frequent disconnections.
Instead, 55% of businesses surveyed are already investing in remote desktop technology like PCoIP Zero Clients and HP Anyware (formerly Teradici CAS) remoting software, with a focus on implementing more Zero Trust Architecture throughout their organizations.
With the hybrid work format becoming the norm, IT teams have much bigger concerns than just keeping on-premises data safe. If employees are working from home, then endpoints need to be just as secure as when they were working in the office. This becomes an additional concern with the rise in BYOD, bring your own device, where employees use personal devices for work. While the convenience and low cost are definite benefits, there is a higher risk of data breaches.
This is why we’re seeing the move towards Zero Trust Architecture. For the respondents who have yet to embrace it, the plan is to begin implementation of ZTA within the next two years at the most.
Not only does ZTA ensure users have trusted endpoints, but the approach also encourages continuous verification and authorization of devices. Both aspects of cybersecurity were high priorities for respondents.

HP Anyware keeps business information safe in the data center, no matter what type of endpoint device employees use to access company data. The secure PCoIP remote display protocol only displays information in the form of encrypted pixels instead of raw data. With HP Anyware and PCoIP technology, IT teams can control their infrastructure and hybrid work environments can thrive.
