PCoIP Delivers Powerful 3D Mapping From The Cloud

Written by HP Teradici | October 28, 2016

"...a major milestone in the delivery of high-end graphics applications."  John Meza, Esri

Mapping software leader, Esri has been taking advantage of the new N-Series Azure virtual machines, running its ArcGIS Pro in the cloud with the support of Teradici Cloud Access Software.

ArcGIS Pro Running From The New GPU-Accelerated Azure Cloud VIA PCOIP

Esri’s John Meza gave a demo (see below) of running ArcGIS Pro from the cloud at Microsoft Ignite with the tech preview of Azure N-Series; John has now detailed Esri’s experience in a great blog post.

“The industry has been waiting for key components to be in place to successfully deliver GPU rendered graphics that can be delivered at a very high frame rate.” noted by John.

The synergy of cloud technologies, in this case the NVIDIA Grid M60 card and N-Series Azure virtual machine provided the visualization and computing power, complemented with Teradici’s new Cloud Access Software to deliver the frames created by ArcGIS Pro.

The use of PCoIP technology ensures the delivery of the highest image quality with efficient build-to-lossless support, ensuring the high-end graphics of ArcGIS Pro look the way they should. Thanks to the dynamic use of multiple codecs, PCoIP also delivers the best possible user experience for the entire desktop under a variety of network conditions.

Cloud-based desktop virtualization that supports dedicated GPUs is a major milestone in the delivery of high-end graphics applications.

GPUs are essential for rendering graphics intensive or 3D images used in applications such as ArcGIS Pro, CAD, GIS and media and entertainment. PCoIP technology complements GPUs by delivering the rich, graphical experience and high-quality images needed by these users.

Take your cloud deployment to the next level with PCoIP. Teradici Cloud Access Software gives you the power to deliver rich, cloud experiences across all network conditions. Create entire virtual workspaces and make even the most graphics-intensive applications available from any cloud, public or private. Free people to work on a wide variety of devices—including laptops, tablets, and ultra-secure PCoIP Zero Clients — enjoy high-fidelity performance, rich user experience, and bullet-proof security.
