There was a buzz in Las Vegas last month with the 2018 NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters) bringing together over 102K+ attendees from all over the globe. This show is the world’s largest event showing off the best and brightest technologies shaping the future of media and entertainment.
The artistry and execution of the latest movies and TV productions continuously progress, for which we have a whole technology ecosystem to thank. And it’s with excitement that we got to see much of this ecosystem together at NAB. Driven by increasing consumer demand, rising production quality and heightened security awareness, we’re seeing advances in editorial and post-production workflows alike as broadcasters and studios look for better ways to manage and deliver content.
This brings us to a few things we were frequently asked at this year’s NAB Show as relating to the Teradici role in secure content accessibility. So, if you did not attend the show or make it to our presentations, the questions and answers below may help guide you in exploring your interest in PCoIP technology and Teradici Cloud Access Software.
PCoIP technology supports all phases! The future may be in the cloud, but we know that many companies have not yet completed the transition. Cloud Access Software enables companies to virtualize workstations and migrate workloads to a centralized environment – even if a private data center is the preferred choice today or a hybrid solution is desired until capital outlays have been recuperated. Companies with data stored in any of these environments can reap the benefits of PCoIP technology to best manage and secure their data. Learn how you can map your journey with Cloud Access Software.
With Cloud Access Software, that is. We heard the term “bursting” and thought it perfectly describes this issue that many production companies face, so we will gladly borrow the term here. “Bursting”, the rapid scaling and de-scaling of company resources as projects come and go, is made possible with Cloud Access Software as it enables companies to allocate and de-allocate virtual machines, automatically broker workstations, and much more. Almost like a switch that IT administrators can turn on and off to save time, money, and ultimately, the stress of managing the onslaught of new projects as they rush in. Cloud Access Software now also includes a provisioning and brokering service called Cloud Access Manager that simplifies management of deployments. See how it can simplify your deployment.
Once again, YES. The beauty of PCoIP technology is that it relieves the burden of transmitting data between the data center and user endpoint by only transmitting pixels. PCoIP technology enables full interactivity with virtual workstations secured in the data center – so well in fact that the end-user experience is seamless even if the person is an artist demanding the best in text clarity and color accuracy for graphically-intense applications.
With efficient pixel-only transmissions, artists have full access to their creative software applications AND peripheral devices while their work is securely stored off-site. Even the latest Wacom tablets can be incredibly responsive under the increased latency network conditions associated with a cloud data center.
Our demonstrations at NAB showed just that – artists were invited to use a Wacom tablet on the show floor to interact with software applications such as Krita and Blender, hosted in a remote Azure data center approximately 1200 miles away from Las Vegas. The interactive user experience showed highly-responsive pressure sensitivity expected of a locally operated tablet – thanks to PCoIP local termination features. Attendees were also encouraged to experience the seamless user interactivity of a professional video editor, also hosted in the distant data center. Lastly, Teradici Cloud Access Manager was demonstrated for provisioning and brokering both Windows and Linux workstations hosted on Azure.
