HP Teradici
HP Teradici is the inventor of the PCoIP remote display protocol and develops the Engineering Emmy-Award-winning HP Anyware (formerly Teradici CAS) to deliver the best virtual and remote desktop experience in the world.
Teradici is excited to announce Teradici Cloud Access Software (CAS) now supports Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) G4ad instances.
CAS is a secure remote desktop and workstation solution based on the Teradici PCoIP® protocol that delivers a high-definition, uncompromising user-experience anywhere, on any device, from any environment, including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
CAS supports a variety of Amazon EC2 instances on AWS, including G3, G4dn, and Elastic GPUs. Today, we’re excited to share that support for the Amazon EC2 G4ad virtual machines has been added for Windows environments and a CAS plus G4ad instance bundle is also available in for easy deployment, production, and testing.
“We’re delighted to support Teradici’s CAS for our Amazon EC2 G4ad instances. Starting immediately, CAS is available in AWS Marketplace,” says Art Baudo, Principal Specialist – Business and GTM at AWS. “CAS is designed to meet the requirements of some of the most demanding cloud desktop users, including high-end CAD, VFX, gaming, and editing artists – paired with a G4ad GPU, studios can now get access to impressive price performance for remote workstations while keeping creative content secure while using AWS.”

G4ad instances provide the best price performance for graphics-intensive applications in the cloud G4ad instances are powered by the AMD Radeon PROTM V520 GPU and second-generation AMD EPYC processors. These GPUs are hyper-efficient with low latency and high CPU to GPU bandwidth to enable a high-quality graphics and performance experience. G4ad instances are ideal for graphics intensive applications such as virtual workstations, game development, pixel streaming, and graphics rendering. When combining a G4ad GPU with CAS, a customer can create a variety of content, including CAD drawings, 3D content for movies, games, and AR/VR on any device.
“We are delighted to work with Teradici to couple the strength of our CPU and GPU hardware with their expertise in remote desktop technology,” says Niles Burbank, Director of Product Management for Cloud Gaming and Visual Cloud at AMD. “Amazon EC2 G4ad instances in conjunction with Teradici CAS enables artists and engineers to access powerful remote workstations at a lower cost, making virtual desktops even more accessible than before.”
G4ad instances compliment CAS for remote graphical desktop support because AMD Radeon PROTM V520 GPUs in Amazon EC2 G4ad instances support key graphical APIs including Direct X 11/12, Vulkan 1.1, and OpenGL 4.5 APIs critical to ISV applications. In addition, G4ad instances support multiple operating systems including Windows Server 2016 and 2019, Amazon Linux 2, Ubuntu 18.04.3, and CentOS 7.7.
G4ad instances can be purchased from AWS using on-demand, as part of Savings Plans, as Reserved instances (RI), or Spot instances.
Amazon EC2 G4ad instances provide:
- up to 4 AMD Radeon PROTM V520 GPUs
- up to 64 vCPUs
- up to 25 Gbps networking bandwidth
- up to 2.4 TB local NVMe-based SSD storage (partitionable)
They are available from AWS in three sizes:
Instance Size | GPUs | GPU Memory (GB) | vCPUs | Memory (GB) | Storage | EBS Bandwidth (Gbps) | Network Bandwidth (Gbps) |
g4ad.4xlarge | 1 | 8 | 16 | 64 | 600 | Up to 3 | Up to 10 |
g4ad.8xlarge | 2 | 16 | 32 | 128 | 1200 | 3 | 15 |
g4ad.16xlarge | 4 | 32 | 64 | 256 | 2400 | 6 | 25 |
G4ad instances provide excellent price performance for graphics intensive applications like virtual workstations, game streaming, and graphics rendering. Amazon EC2 G4ad instances are built on the AWS Nitro System, a combination of dedicated hardware and lightweight hypervisor enabling faster innovation and enhanced security.
