Graphics Processor Units (GPUs) are essential for delivering the rich, graphical experience for high-end, 3D applications such as CAD, GIS, Media and Entertainment, Oil and Gas Exploration, etc… However, the majority of users in a VDI or DaaS deployment are using 2D or lightweight 3D applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) can easily be rendered using the CPU resources in the server making the benefits of using GPUs less obvious for these users.
