Google has announced the general availability of virtual display devices for Compute Engine virtual machines (VMs), letting you add a virtual display device to any VM on Google Cloud without having to use GPUs, which can be powerful but also expensive.

We are excited to share the news of a key feature released by Google Cloud and its compatibility with Teradici Cloud Access Software. Organizations worldwide have been using Cloud Access Software for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to securely deliver high-performance Windows and Linux desktops from any cloud or data center and provide a high-fidelity user experience for the most graphics-intensive applications.

Today, office workers in sectors like finance, IT or government requiring a Windows desktop, but not the full power or cost of a GPU, can utilize Cloud Access Software with Virtual Display devices on GCP for a secure virtual desktop experience.

Customers using Cloud Access Software for Google Cloud can enable this feature without extra cost. To enable Virtual Display devices, customers can access the documentation posted here by the Google Cloud Services team.

“Virtual Display devices for virtual desktops offers organizations flexibility, efficiency, and choice. Whether it is for remote office applications or system management tools, organizations in all industries comprised of teams relying on these daily can now look to GCP and partners like Teradici for this support.”
- Venkat Gattamneni, Product Manager, Google Cloud

Organizations who have yet to use Cloud Access Software for GCP can visit this page to learn how it leverages industry-leading PCoIP® technology to securely deliver high-performance virtual desktops and workstations from any public cloud, data center, hybrid, or multicloud architecture to any device. It also simplifies deployment management by automatically provisioning remote desktops all from a single console. Now that it supports Virtual Display devices on GCP, organizations have a powerful combination of tools to serve a wider variety of use cases and applications.
