IGEL and Teradici Collaborate: More Choice for Industries of all Kinds

February 27, 2019
Teradici

Teradici is the creator of the PCoIP remoting protocol technology and Cloud Access Software, the leading solution for a cloud-ready future. The company, founded in 2004, is focused on its core mission of seamless delivery of workstations and applications for end-users.

Each year, IGEL, a world leader in software-defined endpoint solutions, hosts partners and customers to reveal initiatives that will influence and improve end user computing solutions (EUC). DISRUPT EUC is the name of these events and we here at Teradici were excited to be featured in both their keynote and on-floor demonstrations at the Munich and San Jose events.

Teradici joined IGEL on stage to speak to the news of a new partnership. As recently announced, the companies are working together to offer IGEL thin client customers a solution to connect to Amazon WorkSpaces – or any of the major public clouds like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure - with the security and performance of PCoIP. IGEL will add the Teradici PCoIP Software Client for Linux to their family of thin clients, including the UD Pocket.  Customers using the PCoIP Software Client and a Teradici All Access subscription have greater choice and flexibility to connect to a cloud solution of their preference.

Arjen van der Meulen, Director, Product Management, Teradici speaking with
Matthias Haas, CTO, IGEL, about the significance of the new collaboration between Teradici and IGEL

Until recently, IGEL’s base of thin client users had the option of choosing a VMware or Citrix-based virtual environment. With the future in mind, IGEL’s move to offer PCoIP-enabled thin clients provides customers support for flexible infrastructure strategies – a key consideration for many industries.

Whether it be healthcare, finance, government, education, manufacturing, or media & entertainment, each industry may be vastly different but perhaps similar when it comes to needing IT infrastructure that is flexible and future friendly. The Rightscale 2018 report states that 81% of organizations surveyed have “multicloud” as part of their corporate strategy. With that in mind, the addition of the PCoIP Software Client to IGEL thin clients opens the doors for customers to have greater choice and the ability to extend virtualization to more users.

Listen to additional commentary from Teradici CEO, David Smith in this VMblog interview:

C-level executives, IT managers, security experts, and organizations will be able to drive greater value from existing investments with this new partnership. For example, with the IGEL UD Pocket, customers can connect any x86 client hardware to Amazon WorkSpaces. We will provide updates on this collaboration here on the blog so be sure to hit the subscribe button.
