New (and Improved) PCoIP Client for Chromebook and Android™ Devices

July 23, 2020
HP Teradici

HP Teradici is the inventor of the PCoIP remote display protocol and develops the Engineering Emmy-Award-winning HP Anyware (formerly Teradici CAS) to deliver the best virtual and remote desktop experience in the world.

Teradici, a Google Cloud partner, has been working together with Google Cloud to fast track and simplify cloud migrations to Google Cloud with virtual workstations. As a past winner of the Google Cloud Partner Award for Innovative Solution in Media & Entertainment, Teradici’s virtualization technologies are highly valued in graphics-intensive use cases such as VFX, animation, and video editing.

There are a number of ways to get started quickly using Google Cloud virtual machines via PCoIP technology. Google Cloud Marketplace offers pre-defined configurations for Teradici Cloud Access Software, available in both Windows and Linux operating systems of virtual machines, and with GPU or non-GPU instances. Virtual machines hosted on Google Cloud can be accessed via PCoIP Zero Clients, thin clients, and software clients.

And with the latest release, we are pleased to offer a better, more reliable experience for those using PCoIP on Google Cloud with Android and Chromebooks. The 2020.04 release of Cloud Access Software comes with a completely new 64-bit PCoIP Client for Android.

This means that full Windows and Linux applications can be accessed via a Chromebook or Android tablet, providing the ability to use programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro on virtual workstations in Google Cloud with a desktop experience that is comparable to using a physical workstation. In fact, Adobe has provided guidance to assist users running video production workflows using virtual machines hosted on Google Cloud, including a recommendation for the use of Teradici PCoIP technology. For performance-demanding users on-the-go or remotely located, the ability to connect to GPU-backed instances for crucial applications they require from wherever they are proves to be very valuable.

The new PCoIP Client for Android supports both Teradici Cloud Access Software and PCoIP Remote Workstation Cards. It has been optimized to run on Chrome OS systems supporting Android apps, which includes the most recent Chromebooks, and it supports local resolution for high DPI displays.

With the addition of Teradici PCoIP technology and the new Android Client, this ease of use can be extended to support even demanding graphics-intensive workflows in video production with high responsiveness and fidelity. As the need to support remote work continues to expand, this additional level of support from Teradici provides a streamlined, high-performing, cost-effective endpoint option.

Download and try the new PCoIP Client on Google Play today.
