If you feel like everyone is talking about hybrid clouds lately, you’re not wrong. Even the public cloud providers recognize that not every deployment will go entirely to the cloud. Microsoft, which recently introduced Azure Stack HCI, has expanded Azure Stack into a full family, demonstrating its confidence in the importance of hybrid cloud for the foreseeable future.

This is good news...

As we noted in our multicloud survey, while IT teams are deploying hybrid clouds to meet various needs in their organizations, they felt that the management of a hybrid solution could be made easier and that they needed more training to feel confident in doing so. By definition, a vertically integrated hybrid model like the Azure Stack portfolio should help to streamline and simplify things by offering a consistent management interface between the on-premises data center and Azure Cloud.

This ease of use has been a key factor in our joint efforts behind the scenes with Dell EMC to ensure that Teradici Cloud Access Software works seamlessly with the Dell EMC Azure Stack Hub. The joint solution has been tested by Dell and was demonstrated in the Dell booth at Microsoft Ignite in November.

The solution offers a number of advantages that are appealing across a wide variety of organizations but particularly relevant for those in government, financial services, and education. First, it offers a way to deploy Azure-consistent architecture within an on-premises solution, which can be a critical requirement for those who need to provide Windows Services and meet stringent security requirements. It also enables support for Linux users within Windows environments, as Cloud Access Software provides for Linux server workloads hosted within Azure.

Finally, for organizations that may have significant existing investments in PCoIP Zero Clients, this solution provides a path to Azure migration that leverages those zero clients without the requirement to deploy new hardware. Zero clients can be used with Azure Stack HCI permanently, or reoriented to Azure Cloud as required, providing IT teams with the flexibility to shift workloads for capacity management and disaster recovery with ease.
